The Tibetan Year 2150 – Year of the Water Hare – begins Tuesday, February 21, 2023 in the Gregorian Calendar. In preparation for the New Year (Tib. Losar), Palri Pedma Öd Ling will host a two-day Vajrakilaya practice. Vajrakilaya is commonly practiced to remove obstacles and obscurations.
Vajrakilaya is a wrathful form of Vajrasattva. The practice originated in India, was systemizatized by Padmasambhava and Vimilamitra while on retreat together in Yang-le-shod (present-day Pharping, Nepal). and widely adopted in Tibet. The deity practice transmutes and purifies obstacles and obscurations, and embodies enlightened activities. Vajrakilaya is combined with other events, leading to the Tibetan New Year:
