Vajrasattva Retreat
Terton Kunzang Nyima's Vajrasattva Practice 5th Annual Retreat
February 26th - March 4th, 2012
When Ven. Gyatrul Rinpoche was a young boy, he met and received transmissions from Dudjom Lingpa's speech emanation, Terton Kunzang Nyima. At that time, he especially received the Vajrasattva and Six Bardos teaching from the esteemed master for several months. In fact, during that time, Gyatrul Rinpoche requested a short daily practice of Vajrasattva, and the terton revealed it. Gyatrul Rinpoche witnessed the profound and magical qualities of Terton Kunzang Nyima, and was convinced that he was truly a wisdom emanation.
When he fled Tibet, Gyatrul Rinpoche lost all contact with this profound lineage. For many years, he wished to reconnect, and finally, in 2007, Lama Chonam was able to bring from Asia the Collected Works of Kunzang Nyima in 27 volumes. Gyatrul Rinpoche was overjoyed! A few months later, he learned that one of Kunzang Nyima's sons, Tulku Theglo, was still alive and maintaining the tradition in Tibet! Rinpoche immediately extended an invitation for him to come to America.
In 2008, Tulku Theglo Rinpoche came, and at Palri Pema Öd Ling, in Austin, Texas, he bestowed the complete empowerments of the treasures of both Dudjom Lingpa and Kunzang Nyima. At this time, Theglo Rinpoche gave brief instruction on the ritual aspects of Kunzang Nyima's extensive Vajrasattva practice, with the wish that students in America could connect to this lineage and begin to practice it. Since then, Palri Pema Öd Ling has upheld the tradition by carrying out an 8-day retreat each year, to practice and study this profound sadhana. Gyatrul Rinpoche is very pleased that students are trying to maintain this tradition, which has such fresh and direct blessings. Read about:

It has been our good fortune that Venerable Lingtrul Rinpoche has presided over this retreat each year as the Vajra master. This year, he will be with us once again. Read more about Lingtrul Rinpoche here.
Now, we are reaching out to Gyatrul Rinpoche's greater sangha for support. We encourage everyone to participate in this retreat, either by coming on out to join us and learn the tradition, or by making even just a small offering in order to connect. We have a very small sangha here in Austin, but our aspiration is to maintain this retreat on a yearly basis and provide a foundation for Terton Kunzang Nyima's blessings to spread here in the West.
