Venerable Gyatrul rinpoche
All dharma students are invited to join in Palri Pema Od Ling’s annual Vajrasattva Retreat.

This is an excellent occasion to practice together, purify our mental delusions, accumulate merit and transform our ordinary experience into stainless wisdom.

Vajrasattva is the condensed essence of all meditation deities and has the power to liberate us from our suffering and it’s causes. This practice is called The Mirror of Vajrasattva’s Enlightened Mind and was revealed by Dzongter Kunzang Nyima, the speech emanation of Dudjom Lingpa, at the request of Venerable Gyatrul Rinpoche.

We are excited to announce that our spiritual guide, Gyatrul Rinpoche has communicated his intention to preside over this retreat. We pray that the appropriate causes and conditions come together so this auspicious visit may come to fruition.

The schedule will include three sessions daily.
  • 9:00-12:00
  • 2:30-5:00
  • 7:00-9:00
While it’s best to attend the whole program, it’s also fine to attend as much as your schedule permits.

Sign-up via email. Details regarding location will be emailed to those who are registered.

We rely on your generosity to support having the lamas, attending monks and chopins travel to Austin for this event. Your support helps with airfare, lodging, food and retreat supplies.

A Message From Gyatrul Rinpoche to All His Students
about Keith, Shashi, and Ila

"I have asked Keith, Shashi and Ila to teach.  They can teach tormas and ritual but they can also teach you the meaning of dharma.  They have heard many teachings and understand many points of the dharma intellectually, but more than that, they have brought the meaning into their minds.  Whoever you are, old student or new student, learn from these juicy guys.  Everybody should get these teachings--we have technology, so you can listen, whether you're at Tashi Choling, ODD or elsewhere.  If you're an old student, don't be proud.  These guys are young but their teachings aren't young.  Not just the facts but the real deep one is there.
Tashi Deleg,
Gyatrul"

Welcome to Austin!
Keith, Shashi and Ila are coming to Austin to help direct various aspects of the Drub Chod and to help us learn. . .how to chant, ring the bell, twist our hands into beautiful mudras, make tormas, ritual chopin activities and as Gyatrul Rinpoche says, ". . . they can also teach you the meaning of dharma."

They will be VERY busy while in Austin and will need help and support. If participants pitch in with making tormas, running to the store to get supplies, cooking a meal or two, help organize daily tsogs, etc. You will learn so much just by assisting them and observing. AND maybe, just maybe Keith, Ila and Shashi would have a little time to teach us about the true meaning of the Kunzang Nyima Vajrasattva practice.

The Venerable Gyatrul Rinpoche
Teaching on tsog

When we perform a tsog (Skt. ganachakra) we're accumulating merit and purifying negative karma. The first portion of the tsog is offered to the gurus, deities, and dakinis. In this way great merit is accumulated. The second portion is offered to confess all the negative karma we've accumulated from countless past lifetimes. The third portion is the offering of liberation. To make this offering we enter into the state of the pure awareness nature of the mind (rigpa), thus liberating ourselves from duality and realizing the pure primordial wisdom expanse. Delighting in that expanse is the third offering. The fourth portion, the offering of the remains, is a way of being generous to all those beings to whom we owe unpaid karmic debts, debts that we've been accruing for countless past lifetimes. By means of this fourth offering, if we can do it purely, with pure awareness, we're able to repay those debts and satisfy countless beings.
